I’d love you for free

I just watched a movie. In it the man and woman who are supposed to strictly be friends because they’re bad at relationships involving sex end up falling in love. When she asks him what they’re gonna do about it he says “nothing I love you for free”. In that moment I felt like a cartoon when the lightbulb shines above someones head with an idea. When I have any sort of complex feelings about something I like to write about them to try to understand how I feel about them. This time instead of writing some long blog that no one wants to read I’ve decided I’d try a poem, about loving someone for free. Unconditional love. Not on the condition you provide something, not on the condition we have sex, just the condition you continue to be you. I haven’t met many people I’d love for free but I have met a couple, and they have access to this blog. To those few I say:

In love’s sweet realm, where hearts entwine,

No price, no cost, for you are mine.

With tender car, our spirits free,

A love that’s boundless, pure, and key.

No riches sought, no treasures sought,

Just your presence, all I’ve got.

In your smile, I find my glee,

Loving you forever, endlessly.

Through ever trial, tribulation, or test,

In your embrace, I find my rest.

No charge for love, it’s simply there,

A bond so deep, so rich, so rare.

For love, my dearest, is a gift,

A treasure from the heart’s uplift.

In your eyes, I clearly see,

The priceless love you give to me.

Where the skies are gold not gray, J.

P.S. I wrote this listening to the late great Tina Turner’s hit “what’s love got to do with it.

P.S.S. Pinkies up
